I appreciate that the author suggests that there is no such thing as a positive stereotype. If we accept the idea of the “model minority”, then we would be open to accept all stereotypes. The author later pointed out that our attempts at multicultural teaching strategies have neglected many Asian-American students. Is this because our curriculum designers and policy makers have bought into the model minority theory? Or is what we deem multicultural strategies in actuality a means to address issues that really are not based on culture at all?
